Taughannock Falls is the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi River, nestled in my hometown of Trumansburg, NY. Ever since I was three years old I hiked this trail in all seasons. Walking the smooth creek bed in hot NY summers. Sliding down the snowy slate sides of the trail in the winter. The mere 3 mile hike was a huge accomplishment for a 3 year old learning the joy of reaching the misting falls after pushing through the uncomfortableness of hiking. Every hiker knows the joy and peace that comes alongside the work of being on a trail.
